Healthy Italian Meatballs


A dear friend and fan of Hungry Gene shared some of her recipes with us and we are sharing with you!  Our friend is very health conscious and has taken some traditional recipes and put a healthy spin them.  This recipe features Hungry Gene Premium Salt Free Pizza Seasoning (a staple in many households).

These Italian meatballs are delish!  And they won't add to your waistline!

Serves: 4-6

Prep Time: 10 Min

Total time: 40 min




​​Step 1:

Thoroughly mix all of the listed ingredients in a large bowl.

Step 2:

Form the meat mixture into 1 inch meatballs.  You can use a cookie or ice cream scoop to ensure uniformity.  If you do not have either of those a spoon will do!

Step 3:

Spay a medium sized frying pan with the cooking oil of your choice.

Step 4: Over medium heat, brown the meatballs on all sides.  Brown a little longer to make sure they are thoroughly cooked if you would like to serve them as an appetizer with a side of your favorite tomato sauce for dipping.  Otherwise, proceed to step 5 after you have browned the meatballs.

Step 5:

Transfer the meatballs to a medium sized pot and add a jar of your favorita spaghetti sauce.  Let simmer for at least 30 minutes.

You can serve these tasty meatballs over your favorite pasta...


... or you can serve them on your favorite hoagie roll.  I would add some Provolone cheese to the sandwich, but that adds calories!
