This salt-free seasoning blend comes to us from South Africa.  It is multilayered - flavorful, woodsy and warm, spicy and sweet, herbaceous and earthy.  It is fragrant and aromatic.  It packs a lot of heat so take care and season your food to your liking!  Hungry Gene recommends using Chakalaka seasoning just as you would any curry.  Saute with vegetables and finish with cocunut milk to make a tasty and spicy gravy.  Use it in couscous, cook it in tomato sauce, use it in eggplant to make a South African baba ganoush.  It can be added to dal, or as a marinade for fish or chicken.  It is also absolutely delicious on grilled fruits like peaches and pineapple!

This blend is salt-free for those who are concerned about salt in-take. For those that want more salt, try adding Hungry Gene's Himalayan Pink Mineral Salt to taste.

Because this blend is salt free, you can use it a little more sparingly (than you would a blend with added salt) without sacrificing the flavor. Enjoy!
